Are you totally confused about what the deal with plastics is, what toxics are, how to compost, and why does it matter? What I do is come into your home or office and meet you where you are. Together we take a look at your buying and throwing-away habits. We analyze what choices you are currently making and I advise you on different choices you could be making with ZERO JUDGEMENT. Hopefully, along the way, I will educate you so that you are inspired to change the way you shop...and maybe eat...and possibly live. Consultations typically take about two hours.
Rebecca, what do I need to do?
Before I arrive, you will fill out a brief questionnaire about you. I will need to know your waste hauler and the exact city where you reside. Then you allow me to come into your home and look at the following areas: toiletries, cleaning products, clothes, all food items, and trash/recycling bins. We discuss your needs and habits when it comes to buying these things and throwing them away. You don't even need to write anything down! I will email you a complete report with recommendations within a few days of our meeting.
I devise a plan for you to start making daily choices that will have a local and global effect on pollution and climate. There is no judgement here. Zero-waste is an impossible goal. Let's see if we can make some small choices...maybe they can lead to bigger choices down the road.
How much does it cost?
Um... Rebecca, who are you?
I'm Rebecca Sage Allen. I have had a life-long passion for protecting the planet and the creatures within it...including us. I am a graduate of the Burbank Waste Warriors Program and am currently working towards my certificate in Sustainability at UCLA with a focus on Principles of Waste Reduction, Recycling, and Solid Waste Management. I volunteer with the schools in the Burbank USD to make them more eco-forward and am the chair of the Sustainability Committee at Roosevelt Elementary. I think about trash a lot.
"At first I was nervous having Rebecca see all the environmentally terrible stuff I knew I had in my home, but with absolutely zero judgment she walked me through small, manageable changes I could make as well as some bigger, longer term plans. I love that her approach isn't just "this is awful, use something else," but instead she educates you as to why there are better options."
-Molly Erdman, author Catalog Living
"Rebecca has a unique understanding that if you overwhelm, people shut-down. Her practical approach to “going green” left me hopeful and inspired. She enlightened me to small, doable changes our family can make that have a great impact. The simple act of “refusing" has become a mantra in our home. And that momentum has empowered us to take on the bigger commitments like composting. Rebecca’s environmental life hacks are invaluable, but it’s her optimism and enthusiasm that have had the greatest impact on my motivation to improve my world.”
